iCloud 5.2 is not working with Outlook 2016

Recently upgraded to Outlook 2016 with Office 365 and I can't get iCloud to work within Outlook

I've uninstalled iCloud, restarted then downloaded/installed latest iCloud version (5.2, I think)

When I check the box on Mail, Calendars, Contacts and Tasks within iCloud, it says Setting Up and has been that way for about an hour.

Does anyone have any additional troubleshooting steps?

I'm using the latest and greatest Office365 and the latest iCloud for Windows (5.2.1) on 64-bit Windows 10 Pro version 1511 (build 10586.494). Just now, this is what I had to do to get it to work:

1) First, uninstall Office365. The iCloud app will not work with the click-to-run version of Office365 nor does it seem to work with a 64-bit version Office. You have to run the 32-bit version, and it has to be installed from an offline installer.

2) Install the 32 bit version of Office365 from the offline installer, which I got from the "Install" button my office365.com account webpage:

I get a file named "O365HomePremRetail.img". If you double-click on it, it will mount and open a disk image. DO NOT click on the the Setup icon that you see. Rather, open the "Office" folder. In there you will find a Setup32 icon. Double click on that to install the 32-bit version of Office 365.

3) Run the iCloud application. It may say that it needs to be repaired, if so, follow the directions and repair the installation.

4) Reboot computer

Once I rebooted, I was able to configure iCloud to work with my Outlook.

Hi, I experienced this problem with Office 365 and W10. After a couple hours of working on it and getting a repeated error when trying to set up iCloud, instead of synching Tasks/Calendar and Contacts, I chose just to synch Tasks (8 items).

It worked then and remarkably all three were synched.

Duh....

PS I am also using Code2 to synch with my iPhone.

Was having this exact problem after purchasing new laptop and Office 365. Was absolutely frustrated when I found that Icloud would not work. Had it working beautifully on my PC running Office 2010 (yeah, I know its old, but why fix what is not broken) Anyway, took the brave step and followed your instructions. Now working!!! Thanks so much

Thank you rs888 for taking the time to share this fix. This worked for me. I now have icloud working on my Windows 10, Outlook 2016 and spending hours uninstalling and reinstalling. Apple Support helpdesk couldn't even help me on the phone. I didn't bother upgrading to the latest version of office again for 2 reasons, 1st: I don't know how to, 2nd: It's working just fine and I can't tell the difference anyway.
