mail login failed

I've bought a new MacBook and cannot get Mail to login to a Yahoo account. "login failed" at every attempt. Quitting Mail and restarting OSX tried without success.


I've deleted the account and adding a new one with the same result repeatedly. On each occasion an email message from Yahoo appears on the server saying "Your Yahoo account xxxxx was just used to sign in on Mac OSX". So the MacBook is communicating with the email server.


So, email server and internet connection are working fine. The issue must be with Mail.


Any suggestions?

Hi, From the Menu Click on Window > Connection Doctor and try to post the details of error that you find under that popup. It must be something to do with the settings in your account. That way every one can get a better insight into , what is going on and be able to help you 🙂 Waiting for your response.

Connection Status green. "mail was able to connect to the internet"

Status red. Yahoo! SMTP "Trying to log in to this SMPT account failed. Verify that the username and password are correct"

Status red. Yahoo! IMAP "Trying to log in to this IMAP account failed. Verify that the username and password are correct"
