New iPhone SE battery draining fast

I just bought a brand new iPhone SE from Carphone Warehouse UK (boxed, sealed in original Apple box/packagine and shrink-wrapped. I even checked build date for phone and it was only built 8 weeks ago so I know it is brand new) and the battery isn't lasting long. I've done the usual: let phone battery die, then plug in and wait till it is 100% charged to calibrate it. With no bluetooth and hardly any use the battery dies of it's own accord after just 26 hours.

With my previous iPhone 5, under the same set of circumstances, it would take 64 to 72 hours to die. The main reason I bought a new iPhone SE was because my old iPhone 5 was three years old and the battery life was almost exhausted after being charged/discharged hundreds of times over three years, at the end the iPhone 5 battery was dying after about 34 hours.

How come a brand new iPhone SE battery is dying quicker than a well-used three year old iPhone 5?

I've only had it a few days, can I get my local Apple store to swap it for another, or will I have to go to Carphone Warehouse and get them to swap it?

Or, is there no fault at all and SE just has terrible battery life?

Same here. I bought mine new from the Apple Store in 11/16, replacing a 4-year-old 4S that still got at least a week before needing to be charged.

Now I'm watching it drain 10% an hour--while in Airplane Mode. Nothing is on. At all. It's in Airplane Mode, low power mode, no wi-fi, Bluetooth, location services or apps open. This is constant. It can be fully charged at bedtime and be at 20% when I wake up... while being in Airplane Mode the entire time.

Do remember that the SE has the processing power of the 6s, but the battery of the 5, not the 6s. So the capacity of the battery isn't up to snuff. If there is a setting for processor performance (cough, windows, cough), you could set that to minimum.

Additionally, there might be applications that run in the background that consume power, even when the phone is turned off. This is a problem with the Nook readers. If you enable WiFi on the reader, and turn it off, it still consumes battery power at an alarming rate. No, not standby, fully powered off. Barnes and Noble will not admit that this is the problem with the short battery life of the nook readers. Instead, they are telling customers that they have too many apps open at one time and should configure the reader for minimal power use. They never mention turning off WiFi. They need it on to do push updates and other stuff that you really don't care about, but they want to dump on you anyway.

So Apple, got anything running we don't need, like responders, trackers, and capturers? I can't remember, did you agree to any of the NSA's terms?

I had SE before, 2016 august, bought new SE 2017 december, Problems with new one started right after i bought it, sended to repair, with the idea maybe system failed, got it back with words everything perfect, paid almost 100 euros, few days later sended back to repair, with the words i want battery change, so probably will have to pay double now..

problems right after i bought it, batterie died really fast, overheated while charging (no use included), pgege scrolling freezed, keyboard failed responding etc.

after so called repair, batteried died as early as before, but didn't overheat anymore, pages still froze, keyboard rarely responded right after push...

So yeah, i know what you feel, only i am in war right now cause they do not want to change it, and i do not want to pay extra for a bad device.

I also wonder "How come a brand new iPhone SE battery is dying quicker than a well-used three year old iPhone 5?"

My iPhone SE, now a year old last for a half day... this when always use battery save mode. I tried argue for warranty, but because of a small ,ark on the metal frame was the warranty not valid and I was offered a replacement for 3500 SEK ($ 430). The conclusion is that apple don't want you to use the product, if you do and drop it once, no waranty, even though if the phone works perfectly.

Yes, we have exactly the same problem! First 3 months battery lasted normally at least 48 hrs, but then suddenly collapsed to maximum 12 hrs lifetime! First service actions: reset and program update didn't help at all. Second service actions: battery replaced. Unfortunatelly it seems that phone still consumes battery approx. 10% per hour...

First iphone ever and VERY disappointed to this product so far 😟

My SE is exactly the same.

I got it two weeks ago, and it consumes 1% every 5 minutes, and around 10% in one hour. Very terrible battery performance.

By the way, I only browsed news website without watching any videos.

I thought it was due to iOS 10.1 problem, but now I downloaded and installed iOS 10.1.1, and reset and it still drains very fast.

Today i got it from the repair center, and an engineer said the test results were Ok.

I really dissaponit about SE's poor battery performance.

Hey you need to take your phone into Apple this will be covered under warranty. With the iPhone 6 s and the iPhone 6se and some of the iPhone 7 when Apple had them in the plant making them some of the battery's were exposed to the air to long causes big problem including physical me saying 30% then dieing or draining insanely fast. You can even look it up it was on the news I just hope this helps you.
