While making dance cover videos on my iPad Air, I need to hear the music so I can perform the dance, but I don't want the music in my video. How do I turn off the microphone so I can use the music without recording it in my video?

The wonders of a Google search. Four years ago paulcb recommended Camera Plus in the link below. I denied it access to the microphone and got muted videos. Check also the other camera apps if you want one that mutes from the app itself.

I'm not aware of a way to mute the microphone when recording video. You would probably need to edit the video and remove the soundtrack. That should not be that difficult to do if you have worked with video editors in the past. I would imagine that you will be editing the video anyway when creating your finished product.
Thank you. But no, I've never edited. Don't know how. I just try to do everything right in the original video, or make the best of it. If I leave the music in, I'll get copyright notices, and it's really awkward and difficult to dance in silence.
