It's taken three days so far. I made my iPhone my trusted device. After updating to the latest OS I was required to sign in with my Apple ID. I have forgotten it. Apple sent a code to my phone, which I cannot access. I've asked for ID recovery and it is taking FOREVER. I was wondering how long it has taken other people to recover their accounts. Thank you.

So here's what you do – Remove your SIM card and put it in another phone so you can receive the text code. Turn on your iPhone and treat it like an iPod on a WiFi network. When it gets to the two-factor verification step, it'll send the verification code to your phone number which will be received by the other phone. Enter the code and your iPhone should start up. You can put the SIM card back it when your iPhone is ready to go.
For the other phone, you can borrow one (I used my mom's) OR you can probably go to the Apple store and have them help you. They might need you to explain what to do but they should be able to help.
I agree with you. How anyone could use this company's products is beyond me. I support 50 users and this is becoming a common issue.
Yes it took them only two weeks to recover mine the only problem was the trusted device number changed I was able to verify the old trusted number and credit card on file.

There is...no one can call or email account recovery...it's like trying to see the "wizard" from wizard of OZ. I am your average joe and have nothing to hide. They simply don't care...
I think the troublesome part is that they turn on 2-factor authentication "kind-of" unknowingly. Its one of those prompts that comes up that is disingenuous in what it is doing.
Yes! But what about Apps and iTunes you purchase? If I would to creat a new Apple ID.
I am facing the same problem and many of my friends. Apple is not helping. This is going to be the last time I will ever use an iPhone though.

Did you try calling or going to the Apple store? I think they`ll help you if even if you coverage has expired.

This works! I couldn't get into iCloud from iMac. Went to "Find my iPhone" on my iPhone and selected "Forgot password".
