Trouble installing smc fan control

Hey,

So I own a 13" macbook pro, early 2015. I thought of downloading the smc fan control application as my macbook seemed unusually warm while it was placed on my lap as I was sitting on my bed. I went online, and read a lot of recommendations for smc fan control. However, when I downloaded it, the MacUpdate Installer was having trouble installing it. It shows that it's 100% installed in Applications but i'm unable to quit the MacUpdate window as it just won't finish installing even though it shows a 100%. I tried restarting my macbook, but the Installer window wouldn't let me re-start my mac either. I can't even quit the installer as it keeps displaying that the installation process isn't yet complete.
