mac won't accept password - even after changing it

My friend uses a macbook air, I'm pretty sure running OSX Yosemite.

Suddenly her mac wouldn't accept her password anymore.

We tried resetting the password via her apple ID but even with the new password it kept telling us the password is not correct.


Any ideas how we can solve this problem?
