Is there any decent alternative to Image Capture for scanning?

I use an Epson GT-15000 scanner for professional work. I used to use Epson Scan on older computers and still use it on Windows PC, but it is not supported on Apple any more (as of OSX 10.6). Epson's website just tells to use the built in Image Capture software, which is really lame and a big step down from Epson Scan, as it lacks most professional features, that Epson's software did. I checked out VueScan - it's kind of better, but 90$ for a pro version?! Even 40$ for normal version is too much for something that is supposed to be provided with a scanner like that in the first place... really disappointed again, Apple...

Is there any alternative to Image Capture?
