J Lambert,
That is a peculiar iTunes behavior that seems to have popped up in the last day or so. Here's how to get the right date: Right-click, choose Show in Finder/Explorer, locate the song files, and drag them to your desktop. Delete the library entries, and then re-add the song files to iTunes.
I also have experienced the same problem. I have purchased 6 individual songs in the last 2 days and they no longer are sorted as "recently added" because it shows I purchased these 6 songs in 1974.
I'm having the same issue. I've tried dragging the songs to the desktop, and while the "Date Added" is corrected by doing that, the "Date Purchased" is still 1974. And the new songs are still not showing up my Recently Added playlist on my iPhone. What gives?
While it sounds like a parallel situation, the problem from the 2010 question doesn't apply here. My region is set to United States, which in the latest operating system is the default. This issue pops up when I buy music on my phone as well, which seems like it's related to the iTunes store. When I download mp3s from other sites, the Date Added is correct.
This has not correctd the issue for me. Suddenly song I purchased YEARS ago are showing up as newly purchased. This is a pain. When I move the file to my desktop and readd it to the library it is just making this an even newer purchase, which is not what I want. Please help. This has affected over 30 songs in my library.
