Average pace calculation

HOw the average pace calculation is done in workout apps outdoor option?

I Used my watch for the 3rd time for my walk. I walked total 34 minutes And covered 1.34 miles. The avg pace it shows is 25'25" MI which is quite wrong.

FOr my another walk of 1 mile in 20 mins it shows avg speed as 22' 08".

DItto for my indoor runs. The speed never matches with my treadmill.

I Don't understand how this calculation is done. Can someone please explain??

THanks

Hi Sumit

Pace is different to speed, so the figure will not match the speed measurement displayed on your treadmill.

Instead, pace shows how long - in minutes and seconds - it will presently take you to travel one mile or kilometre (depending upon which distance unit you have chosen to use) if you continue to walk or run at the same speed.

For example, the Workout app screenshot below shows a pace of 9 minutes and 24 seconds per mile (the ' and " symbols indicate time in minutes and seconds, not distance):

Get the best measurement

Your Apple Watch will estimate your measurements during workouts based on the information that you entered during setup, but you can also further improve its accuracy using these tips:

* For GPS accuracy, you can also calibrate your Apple Watch.

Use the Workout app on your Apple Watch
