Cannot update apple software as tile tells me to insert the 'Apple Software Disk'

Unable to install Apple Software Version 2.1.4 as 'The feature you are trying to use is on a removable disk/CD-ROM etc'.... which I've never had as I installed directly the program directly from Apple website. Is there a work-around or should I uninstall and reinstall Apple on my pc, please?

Try repairing Apple Software Update from the programs & features control panel, and then try again.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. See the notes below. In particular see the Microsoft Program Install & Uninstall tool in note 1 below the box and the section on Missing MSI errors.

Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
