Is there a shortcut for Mathtype in page?

I'm using page 5.6.2 and Mathtype 6.7h. Mathtype works perfectly for me. However, I frequently need to type equations, and it is not conveneint to pull down the insert tab and click "Insert Mathtype Equation." Is there anyway I can create a shortcut for inserting mathtype equation? I've read several responses from the past (about how you can do it by going to system preference), but it is not working anymore. Please let me know if you can help.

iMac, iOS 9.3.2

You can assign an unused keyboard shortcut to the MathType Equation… menu item:

System Preferences : Keyboard panel : Shortcuts tab : App Shortcuts
1. Click + to add an application
  1. Application: Pages (gold icon)
  2. Menu Title: MathType Equation… (option + ; to set the ellipsis as shown)
  3. Keyboard Shortcut: control-M (will show as ^M).
2. Quit System Preferences
Pages v5.6.2 will now have this shortcut for MathType on the insert menu.
