Removing Black Bars in iMovie 10.1.1

Once I import my movie into imovie 10.1.1 it adds the black bars on the side and makes the size very tiny when uploaded to facebook. I've seen people talk about the aspect ratio and dimensions but my imovie doesn't have the Project Properties tab under file that everyone is talking about. Can't figure out how to change the aspect ratios or file format.... help!
