How do I insert a new blank page immediately after a nominated page

I am trying to edit an iBook of 147 pages and I wish to add a new blank page immediately after page 73. I have tried ctrl click on the page but the new page is added at the end of the chapter which is obviously not where I want it.

Hello Jeff Reeves,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

From your post, I understand that you are not able to add a new page in the place that you want to add it. I know how important it is for your book to be in the order you want it to be in. Once you add the extra page are you able to drag it where you want to put it?

I recommend reviewing the section in the following article for adding a new page.

iBooks Author: Add, reorder, or delete chapters, sections, and pages

Add a new page

  1. In the Book pane (shown above), select the chapter or section you want to add pages to.

  2. Click Add Pages in the toolbar, and choose Pages > Option.

Tip: You can also add a new page by Control-clicking a page in the Book pane and choosing Insert Page from the shortcut menu. The new page uses the default layout for the chapter or section.

Reorder chapters or sections

In the Book pane, do either or both of the following:

Change the order of chapters: Drag them.

Change the order of sections: Drag a section to a new location in the chapter, or to another chapter.

When the new page is added to the end of the chapter, see if you are able to drag it to the position you want it to be in.

Cheers

Thanks becky,

I had been trying to transfer a Pages document of 148 pages to iBooks Author using Insert pages from... but that turns out to be unrealistic because every page has to be reformatted after the Insert because the graphics and text boxes are too small - for example, I use 12 point text in Pages but it has to be 18 point in iBooks Author to look good on the iPad. I have now resolved to build the iBooks Author document page by page so I probably will not need to add a single new page between two existing pages.

Another matter which is a little tiresome is that Hyperlink items are highlighted in red. I used the colour palette to change it to something softer. The new colour appeared on the colour inspector but was unchanged in the text of the iBooks Author page. I regret that I have to say that this looks like what we call in England a bug. I am doing this work for my wife Caro who is fussy about colours.

Have a good day

Jeff

Thanks Macstier,

I have changed tack since my question about adding new pages and I am now building my iBooks Author document page by page from the beginning. My sources are all text boxes or graphics. I have tried pasting a new graphic at the end of an existing page as you suggested but it just superimposes on that page rather than making a new page.

I think there is a lot more I need to know about iBooks Author before I can create a good iBook from the existing 148 page document in Pages, so I will start by doing much more practice. The story of why the existing Pages document can not be inserted into iBooks Author is complicated and too long to tell here. When I was very young, computer systems used to have a user manual and a technical reference, but now information is passed by hearsay, which is why this forum is so useful.

Have a good day

Jeff
