Can I use a USB keyboard to unlock my iPhone?

I'm trying desperately to recover photos from my iPhone 6S. They were not backed up on iCloud. The phone has never been plugged into a computer. I have been able to get my computer to recognize that my phone is plugged in, but, it wants me to "trust the device" or enter my pass code before I can open it in Image Capture or iTunes.

My screen is destroyed. There is no way for me to tap "Trust" or enter my pass code on the touch screen.

I read in another forum (see here, second last comment on the bottom how to unlock and iPhone if the screen is broken) that I may be able to unlock my phone using a lightening to USB cable plugged in to a USB keyboard. Has anyone had success on that front? If so, how did you get it to work? Once it's unlocked will it stay unlocked when I plug it into my Mac? I thought this might just re-lock it again.

Thanks in advance!

Hi. Were you ever able to solve this problem? I have the same problem and haven't solved it yet. I am using a lightning to USB Camera Adapter to connect a Wireless USB Keyboard to my daughter's broken iPhone. (It won't turn on.) In order to test it out, I first connected it to my my iPhone (fully functional), and I successfully unlocked my iPhone with the keyboard. Then I disconnected my iPhone from the keyboard and connected it to an iMac using a Lightning to USB cable. The problem I am having is that the phone re-locks when I plug it into the iMac. I read a thread that said the phone will stay unlocked when you plug it in, but when I do it, it re-locks. Ugh. Any suggestions?
