I‘m typing this on the touch screen with my index fingers so pardon me if you have too read this as slow as I am typing very slowly.

I‘m considering a conspiracy theory right now. Could it be possible that Apple wants us to get use to using the iPad without the attacher keyboard? After all, that has been their modus operandi... for example...

  • The end of life of Final Cut 7.
  • The lack of optical drives.
  • No headphone out of iPhone... to name a few.

I think this is their way of telling us that we need to use the iPad as a tablet and get use to the idea that is is not a laptop.

Could this be a harbenger of things to come?

WHY HAS THERE BEEN NO OFFICAL ATTEMPT TO CORRECT THIS ANNOYING PROBLEM?

I WILL NOT PURCHASE ANOTHER IPad Pro UNLESS THIS PROBLEM IS FIXED ASAP.

I was considering ordering an iPad lab pac of 32 stations for my media classes, but that idea is on hold.

Windows and Android are looking better every day!

The only thing Apple understands is lawsuits so class action lawyers take note. Congrats apple, you are the Microsoft of the 80s. Same issue, useless $170 keyboard and yes sometimes the "simple" solution of a hard shut down, disconnect and reconnect works ...for one session. "Apple, it just works - once in a while". Apple get your stuff together, you are losing customers daily. I will be at the apple store this week to see if they will replace the keyboard. Doubtful. So frustrating.

Same issue here, I have had the pro 12.9 Since it came out I have been through two keyboards and on my third now.

I like the function of the Apple Keyboard but at $99 a shot I will not buy another. I have a co-worker who has had the same device for the same amount of time and the Zagg keyboard with no issues. My first KB had the screen flickering and I would just have to remove the keyboard and within seconds it stopped flickering and I could use the IPad, reconnect the keyboard would bring back the issue tried all of the suggestions eventually discarded and replaced. Second Apple Keyboard 10 mo old started to not function as Keyboard could eventually get it to work by disconnect and reconnect if I didn't get the error message it would work, eventually it would became bigger issue than it was worth. I discarded it and now have my third will probably work about 10 months at my use pace.

I had this problem for about two weeks until my Smart Keyboard stopped working altogether. What's worse, while waiting for my local Apple Store to reopen after their summer break, I've noticed that if I keep my (no-longer-working) Smart Keyboard attached to my iPad Pro, then I'll invariably get a "your iPad has been disabled" message and have to wait fifteen minutes before I can restart my iPad. Once it fires up again, I'm asked to retype my Apple ID password, sometimes several times over. I've now completely detached the keyboard, and waiting for my Apple Store to open up on Monday.

I dare are say I'm not the only person with this problem.

Hi,

This intermittent problem is a real pain in the butt. I use my iPad Pro for business and presentations and having the keyboard become unresponsive for no reason is both debilitating and in some circumstances, embarrassing!

When will there be a fix released for this issue as it seems that there are many thousands of Apple customers complaining about this fault with the device / iOS?

Thanks,

John.

i had the same problem and I tried this and my keyboard was working.

1. Detatch ipad of out keyboard and turn off (no need to power off using the power button but you may try if this isn't working for you)

2. Now detach the keyboard off the magnetic contact and reattach

3. Turn on your ipad with wifi connection and place it down and attach to the magnetic contact to be in place.

See how it is working for you.

P.S. I read one of the solutions using the magnet moving on the magnetic field on the keyboard to activate the magnetic flux. It seemed working but then it was on and off. But after doing that I tried this and it always worked for me.

My keyboard started working again after restarting the iPad as mentioned in this post. However, I use this iPad exclusively for school and taking lecture notes in very fast progressing classes. It would be a huge inconvenience if the keyboard were to stop working during class!

I updated my iPad yesterday to the latest OS so perhap this is the issue - please fix ASAP!
