iPad Pro is intermittently non reponsive to the IPad Pro Smart Keyboard.
Tyopical occurs when attempting to enter text in address field of the mail app
when the mail app has been opened by Safari to mail a link etc
I removed the keyboard and noticed that the connecting edge was not straight, and the portion with the pins was slightly lower than the lower than the rest of the edge. Just flexed it a smidge to raise the pins and problem is solved!

The problem persists. The fix offered below, does not work.
More people need to complain, go to your local consumer organisations and get them acting on your behalf.
Where did you get a replacement keyboard?
No fix will work. It is a design fault.
Even I provided a serial number, they gave me an only option to purchase a new one because it’s not under the warranty anymore the staff said. I’ve been using 3years.
Well, my solution was embarrassing. I turned off my Bluetooth and forgot to turn it back on. Working fine now.
Thanks for the tip Jay. Tried it and it did not work. This problem appears to be related to updates and it is very inconvenient as I never know when the keyboard is going to work. Thanks again.
An update. I started using the Apple Camera Adapter to read a USB key and would you believe it my keyboard started to work. So I am now fairly certain that in my case this is a software issue.
Yes, the Problem is probably That ohne 0f the Pins is pushed in so the iPad cant detect the Keyboard.
