Brightness controls not working (Windows 10)

Does anyone know how I can get the brightness function keys to work again?

Running Windows 10 on a 2015 MacBook Pro with the AMD Radeon R9 M370X chipset. The brightness keys worked fine when I first set it up, but at some point I updated the driver software, and the function keys stopped working. Now the only way to change the brightness is by opening the Radeon Settings software.

Any help?

thanks,

Mike

OK, I tried resetting the SMC and the NVRAM. The brightness function keys are still not working.

I looked at the Windows update history -- Maybe I was wrong about the problem starting when the drivers were updated. It may be this problem started when the AMD Installer software updated.

Here's the most recent driver update for the keyboard and the display:

Create a Windows System Restore point, so you can go back to the current state. Download BC6 drivers from Apple using BC Assistant as shown...

to a USB flash drive. Switch back to Windows and run AppleKeyBoardInstaller64.exe from USB Flash drive -> Drivers -> Apple .

You seem to have a corrupted Driver Store. This is what I have on a 2013 13-in MBP. You may need to use pnputil.exe to rebuild/cleanup your driver store. You may also be able to use 7Zip to extract files from the Keyboard driver and put them back in place.

If you have the Windows System Restore point in place, remove the Apple Keyboard driver and try to re-install it. Brightness can be controlled by using the Keyboard or via AMD Catalyst Control Center.

Do the brightness keys work properly in OS X?

Yes, I do have an external keyboard. What exactly should I delete from the Device Manager? There's Apple Keyboard under HID (I already tried removing and reinstalling that) and two entries for HID Keyboard Device under Keyboards (see post above with screenshots).

After you connect the USB, look for your internal keyboard in Device Manager tree. Right-click on it, and uninstall and then delete the device. You can then scan for hardware changes and check if the device comes back.

If your external USB keyboard is an Apple USB keyboard, can you test the special keys?
