my phone dosnt ring or get any missed calls while listening to podcasts and it is very frustrating

People say that they have been trying to get a hold of me employer/friends/family and they asked me why do you never answer your phone in the morning I tell them that my phone never rang or that I got a missed call. then they will show me there call log on there own phone and it showed that they indeed tried calling me.

confused I went home and called myself from the house phone and and immediately my phone wrang until i realized every morning i listen to podcasts and maybe that has something to do with it

so I turned on my podcast app and and started to listen to podcasts I usually listen too and gave my phone a call again from the house phone. and what do you know no ring no missed call no nothing this is very frustrating the funny thing is i hear the phone ringing on my house land line but iphone gets nothing any info would be greatly appreciated
