Easy Setup for DVCPRO HD - 720p24: Unable to locate external devices...

I am trying to capture some DVCPRO HD 720p24 footage I shot using a Panasonic HVX200 recording to a FS-100 in P2. The FS-100 is connected to my MacBook Pro as is an External HD, where I store my media files.

Following the FCP instructions, I select Easy Setup > Setup For: DVCPRO HD - 720p24 and then click Setup.

A dialog box labeled, "External A/V" appears stating: "Unable to locate the following external devices: DVCPRO HD (720p60) (1280 x 720) and DVCPRO HD Out". Of the two options: "Check Again" brings back the same "External A/V" dialog box; "Continue" subsequently results, in the Audio/Video Settings box under Video Playback: "[Missing] DVCPRO HD (720p60) (1280 x 720)" and Audio Playback: "[Missing] DVCPRO HD Out".

What is the problem here and how do I fix it, please?

Yes, I did "Organize P2" in the FS-100 prior to mounting it. Thank you. Please see my reply to Jerry Hoffman for more details.

However, I am having another problem that I will be posting separately: Getting video playback from FCP on my Panasonic BT-LH1700W LCD production monitor via my HVX200.

FYI I think I figured it out successfully. Again, thank you for your concern. I will explain how in case it might be useful to someone having the same problem.

For starters, I was most carefully following Focus Enhancement's instructions, "Panasonic HVX200 to Firestore FS-100 tapeless recording workflow", a separate document from the FS-100 Manual that F E Support emailed me. The problem was that the clips were not showing up in FCP's Import Panasonic P2 window.

A white paper Apple publishes, "Workflow for Final Cut Pro and the Panasonic AG-HVX200 HD Camera" and the part, "Importing P2 Footage into Final Cut Pro" explains different ways one can import footage from a P2 card. #5 discusses the condition in which the files have been transferred from a P2 card to a hard drive and how "... the clips are organzied into separate folders contained within a Contents folder". This proved to be key.

Following FE's work flow, one would have done the "Organize P2" step, which organizes the clips into separate folders in a Contents folder. Opening up the FS-100 HD in the Finder, this was indeed apparent.

Continuing with Apple's white paper, it was a matter of a) entering the name of FS-100 HD in the Search Field of FCP's Import Panasonic P2 window and b) MANUALLY navigating to the FS-100 HD and selecting it. The clips then appeared in the Import P2 window. This is not adequately explained in either the FS-100 Manual or FE's Work Flow.

A word of warning: the illustrations of the Import Panasoonnic P2 window in Apple's White paper do not correspond to the window in FCP 5.1.2. so one has to extrapolate.

Precisely, David. My MacBook Pro/FCP is connected via FireWire to the HVX200 that is connected via the component cable to the BT-LH1700W LCD production monitor. I get 720 24p HD playback on the HVX200's LCD viewfinder but nothing on the Monitor.

Previous to that set up, I had the HVX200 hooked up to the BT-LH1700W via S-video and Audio Red & White in/outputs. That works for SD but didn't for HD.

Anyway, is there a way to playback HD on a BT-LH1700W Monitor from FCP? If, yes, what should the connections be?
