Dreamweaver

I own Studio 8 and had it installed on my Windows PC. Just got my iMac 20" (I love it!!) and was going to install Dreamweaver since the CD says Win/Mac. I assumed it would install and run using Rosetta. The iMac does show the CD so how do I get to where I can install it?

I found some info on Studio 8, looks like you'll have to run it in Rosetta. Here are two links that should help. The first one I googled studio 8, and found Support for Intel based Macs.

http://www.adobe.com/products/studio/

See page #2 of link below for info on running it in Rosetta.

Sorry I can't be of more help!

I have been running Studio 8 on my iMac since September. It has been running great...no issues. It does USE Rosetta (which is a Mac product installed on your machine, the Studio 8 install has nothing to do with Rosetta) to run - I think it flies compared to when I ran it on my Dell PC. I just put in the install CD's for Studio 8 and all ran well. If you have any more questions let me know. I would love to talk with other Mac users of Dreamweaver and Studio 8.

While it's true that the CD includes both the Windows and Mac OS X versions of Studio 8, if you have already activated Studio on your Windows PC, you will not be able to activate it on your Mac - the purchase of a license only permits you to use the software on one platform.

You can call Adobe's sales line and check out your options, however - they may offer you a crossgrade (at a price).

User uploaded fileAccording to Adobe, while you are allowed to install the programs on two computers, they are not allowed to be in simultaneous use.

Also, you must install all the programs of the Creative Suite or Studio on the same computer(s). You may not break them up and install Photoshop on one Mac and Dreamweaver on another Mac.

Futhermore, the programs cannot be installed on different platforms. You are not allowed to install them on Macs and PCs.

All the details of the EULA can be found right HERE in plain English and not legalese.

Has anyone come across a problem uploading to the server when using dreamweaver on an intel mac?

I have an older version of dreamweaver which runs fine on my powerbook g4. I can get the program running on my intel mac and I can connect to the server. The problem is I cannot upload or download to my files already stored on the server. The program simply crashes. Happens everytime regardless of whether I'm using passive FTP

thanks

dudenaz, I'd love to know how you managed to get Dreamweaver to run on your iMac. I've just upgraded to a MacBook Pro and none of the Studio 8 apps will even launch for me (having been migrated across from my old Powerbook). I also can't reinstall them or try to update them.

Whatever I do, the related icon bounces in the dock for the briefest of moments and then vanishes ... and that's as far as I get. If you can offer any insights I'd be really grateful!

Is there something special you need to do to force Rosetta to open them?

This is extremely interesting for me. Yes I am able to load and run Studio 8 on my iMac without any issues. I have been using it since I got my iMac last September.

BUT...I am beta testing Fireworks 9 - and I am having the same exact issue with that version! I am currently at a standstill in beta testing of FW9 due ot this issue.

I will foreward this info to the beta coordinator.
