ESPN Dashboard widget stopped working

I am using Mavericks 10.9.5 on both an iMac and a MacBook Pro. On both of them, my ESPN Dashboard widget stopped retrieving news and scores several days ago. I have tried deleting/re-installing and renewing the widget by using Command Key-R, with no success. I am guessing ESPN may have stopped supporting it, and is just focusing on its mobile apps. I use those apps, so if I'm stuck with the widget not working, so be it. But I have found the widget useful while at my desk for a quick look at the sports headlines.

A search of this forum didn't reveal anyone else complaining about the loss of function of the widget, maybe because most people aren't using it. I am curious if anyone else has seen this problem, or if you have heard of ESPN dropping support of the widget.
