imovie 8.0.6 importing stills

I am working in an old version of iMovie (8.0.6). I am trying to import still photos. However, when I click on the camera option, it is only showing me PhotoBooth as an option. It won't give me any other options...even after clicking "x" and starting over (see image below). Also, it's not allowing me to import or to drop stills into this version.

I'm assuming I am having issues due to my older version of iMovie and my higher operating system.

I do not want want to update to the current version 10.1.2 due to the poor reviews.

Is there a way of installing the iMovie '11 (version 9) to see if this will correct my problem? Or any oth

Hi, meanmadmolly,

If you are running El Capitan, older versions of iMovie, including iMovie 9, will not work reliably. In that case, despite the reviews, you might want to reconsider and upgrade to latest version of iMovie (10.1.2). With iMovie 10 you would want to upgrade to El Capitan if you have not already done so, as iMovie 10 was designed to run on that OS.

If you are not running El Capitan, and still want iMovie 9, the only way to get it is to purchase it from a third party vendor like Amazon or eBay. This is because Apple is no longer selling it.
