Java S6?
I still find questions around the net where OSX asks for Java S6 with packages that aren't even using Java.
A great answer is here https://forums.adobe.com/message/5644234.
Do NOT install Java 6 or the Apple-fix for Lion or whatever. Install Java 8 (the SDK) and follow the instructions at the end of the discussion.
Get rid of the OSX message and use the new and safer Java 8 version.
The problem is two-ways. Apple isn't aware some products do not use Java.
Oracle refuses to implement the capabilities (and telling this to the OS) of its newer versions of Java.
And it isn't restricted to El Capitan but also works with older versions. Not sure which is the minimum (Snow Leopard?).
Details in the procedure may differ between versions.
