Can't delete some fake files

I've got a folder full of about 80 files with this filename

.OUunh!␀␀␀␀␀␀␀␀␀␀␀␀␀␀␀␀␀␀␀␀␀␀␀␀␀.AcVG6n

where the difference among them is the extension.

They all have zero bytes so it's just an empty filename. My backup software (Carbon Copy Cloner and SuperDuper!) both have trouble dealing with these files and often won't complete their scheduled backups.

I've tried various ways of deleting them, force-emptying the Trash, even the CLI "rm" doesn't work. I can't change their names, I can't remove the "." denoting invisibility, in short, aside from moving them from here to there, they can't be renamed or deleted.

I would really appreciate any advice on this. Terminal commands are not new to me. See attached screen grab for a detailed look at some of these puppies.

Thanks!

-Tod

I believe collectively, we are relieved that you have resolved this nul filename problem with Yosemite.

When you download a copy of an OS X installer from a torrent site you are in violation of Apple's licensing, and terms of use. You also completely eliminate any surety that the installer is free of malware, botware, and other hostile software that may be injected into the installer. The instant you invoked that installer, you could have opened Pandora's box...

If it were me, I would burn down the machine (reformat/reinstall/restore) all filesystems and start over. Restore from a backup prior to the torrent download, and preferably, an unconnected backup medium when the torrent OS X installer was run.

@vikingOSX: I realize the gravity of your comment and I didn't take that step lightly. When all attempts to obtain a Yosemite installer DMG from Apple, including pleading with a support person on the phone, that was the only avenue left. It was careless but it was a step I was willing to take knowing the risks. I'm in my 70s and use my Mac as a hobby device. In all sincerity, I do value your comment above, as I do with all your comments and suggestions.
