iPhone 5c Stuck in Headphone Mode and Nothing Works

My iPhone is stuck in headphone mode and none of the suggestions (cleaning jack, plugging and unplugging, and restarting) seem to work. I should also note that while most of the questions I've searched on the internet have the user complaining of being able to hear others on the phone but no one can hear them OR others can hear them but they can't hear others. In my case, I can't hear or be heard unless on speakerphone.

Can anyone offer any help? It's doubtful I'll be able to make it to any Apple store anytime soon.

The headphone jack is part of the dock connector/charge port and is a replaceable part on the phone---if you go to any independent repair shop. This is an option if you aren't concerned about preserving an Apple warranty. However, the headphone jack problem you're describing is associated with water damage 90% of the time in my experience, so this phone likely has bigger fish to fry.
