Spam folders are grayed out and unavailable for transferring junk mail

Spam folders are grayed out and unavailable to transfer email from my inbox on my iPad and iPhone. Why can't I move junk mail from my inbox to the spam folder so my spam filter learns what is spam? I have to go to my Mac computer to make a transfer.

I have multiple email accounts that I collectively monitor from my iPad and/or iPhone devices. After you questioned whether the account was an IMAP or a POP3 account, I looked and realized the account that I am having the most trouble with is an old yahoo account. I deleted it and rather than taking the Yahoo selection when adding it back in, I manually added it as an IMAP account. That has fixed the issue. I now have the ability to move mail from my inbox to the spam folder on both my iPad and my iPhone. Thank you!
