How do I delete mispelled email address and username from auto-correct?

I made an error typing my email address, and now when i type my email address, it auto corrects to the misspelled address. I also made an error typing in a username, and now when I type in my correct username, the auto-correct changes the newly entered username to the mispelled name.

How do I edit to remove the mispelled email address and username?

Thanks for your time!

Thanks for your reply. I tried it, I was unable to find the specific mis-spelled username and mispelled email address.

I did delete older email addresses.

Let me give you an example of the mispelled username:

Here, my username is Webhead1990. The user name I want to delete from autofill would be similar to Webbead1990, where a "b" replaced the "h". Webhead1990 v. Webbed1990.

And a similar mispelling on my email address in which an "s" erroneously replaces a "g", with the correct letter being "g".

This mispelling is all my fault, but I just don't know how to delete from wherever the mis=spelled words are.

Thanks again for your time,

Webhead1990

When I just typed out Webh... above, the auto correct tried to change the "h" with a "b".

Hi,

Replying to test something.

I spell wifi with upper case W and F when I normally type.

I am sure it normally hints at a correction (red line).

See this pic where I spelt correction "wrong"

Now I think you can Save Words with the Add to Dictionary and that they become available globally.

The town where I live is called Ferndown and only Maps separates it out into two words.

Now Firefox does not have a Spelling and Grammar menu item but I am sure there is somewhere where you can See and Edit the Personal Dictionary.

Thanks for your reply.

I use Safari v 9.12. There is a menu item for "Spelling and Grammar", I'll try to upload a screen print:

I don't see from this menu where I can change the dictionary, assuming the dictionary has the mis-spelled username and the mis-spelled email address.

When I search "dictionary" in the Safari help menu bar "Help", a dictionary reference is not returned.

Btw, I see you have U.K. checked. I am CDT (CST) in the U.S.

I will do it again and select Correct Spelling Automatically:

Webbed1990 (Ctrl-CLick sleecting "Correct Spe3lling Automatically)

When I selected "correct spelling automatically, nothing happened.

Try again:

Webhead1990 (I just typed Webhead1990, and it didn't convert to Webbed1990)

try again:

Webhead1990 (Did not convert to Webbed1990)

Great Scott! sberman, your solution worked. Well done, and thank you.

Btw, 1990 represents the year I signed on with Apple's support communities using Webhead1990 as my username. At that time, It was OS 8. I answered questions like you. FOr my service to the community, Apple sent me OS 9. A year or two later and Apple sent me an Apple pen, whoch I still have. OS X was too complicated for me. I'm 69 now, and I figure I put in my dues back then. So, sberman & all of the others, I really appreciate your help. Thanks.

Webhead1990 (Btw, it just now asked me if I wanted to correct to Webbead 1990, which I declined.) This is okay since I can skip the option by comtinuing to type.

I saw this article today stating an Apple 1 sold at auction for US$815,000 today, with some of the proceeds benefitting charity. So perhaps your OS 9 media, if you still have it, could still do some good.

Anyway, I'm delighted that worked out for you.

Yours was certainly an interesting question.

Hi,

A long time ago - possibly OS 9 or early OS X I seem to remember seeing and accessing the Users Dictionary to do what you have done with sberman.

I glad you have found a solution.

sberman, sorry for this late reply. Family stuff had to get done.

I regret to say that a few years ago I took all of my Apple IIGS computers, drives, monitors, Imagewriter, disks, & software to a recycler. I have looked around the house to see if I kept the 9.0 software, but I cannot find it.

But I kept my son's first computer, a Lime clam shell, and my first Bondi iMac. I don't use them, they still work, but they are in my computer room and serve as "Art".

Hi Raph.

I remember back then I could add words to the spellcheck function.

On February 21, 1990 (best I can recall), I brought home a IIGS for my young children. One was 5, the other 3-1/2. They were the "digital natives". I became a "digital immigrant", while my wife remains a "digital alien'. My son is now 32, and has given his employer an employee with 27 years experience using computers. My daughter is 30, interning this year for a PhD, and she has almost 26 years experience using computers. My point is while I was born before color TV became a norm, before household central air conditioning, copies were made with carbon paper, the Apple IIs served as teachers. OS 8 & 9 were fun to learn. But OS X is too complicated for me now, yet for the digital natives - they don't need a manual.

Hi,

I can remember black and white TV and the joke later about using a photocopy for a television license because there were so many repeats (of black and white shows)

In '90 I started nursing course and the introduction to computer was a Mac lab running System 6 computers and do matrix printers.

In '91 I got my first Mac, a Performa 400 as they were called it here running System 7 (still runs)

Then a Blondi Blue iMac that sadly died.

Then a G4 Mirrored Doors tower that I stuck extra drives in (gets booted every day)

I did have everything from OS 9.2.2 to Leopard (the last it can run) on those Drives and various Partitions on them.

Again two of those have let go.

A MacBook Pro version 1,1 followed (Only runs three versions of the OS and has been superseded by Core Duo2 Intel chips.

Current machine is the iMac listed.

We bought my son a Tangerine iBook that was my Father-in-laws first computer that has made it's way back to us.

It has OS 9.2.2. and OS X 10.3 squeezed on there.

Both my son and daughter drifter to Windows as the School that they went to was not that Mac friendly but both have come back to Macs.

I must admit to keeping mostly to Messages now that iChat has been iOSed
