iTunes 12.4.3.1 "stuttering" problem

I installed Apple Music a few months ago and have been having a variety of issues since doing so. The most prevalent (and annoying) problem is that iTunes now has a "stuttering" problem when playing music located in my iTunes library on my hard drive. It is not a connectivity issue as I am not streaming. (It is actually better when I stream from Apple Music). The problem is really bad when iPhoto is open. The minute I shut down that application, the problem goes away. I have performed all of the updates available. My computer is performing perfectly in all other aspects. I'm at a total loss.

Any ideas on what might be going on?

For good performance with El Capitan, most recommend 16 GB of memory, but since your issue arose only with the recent update, that's probably not the cause.

Two things...

1. Check how much free disk space you have. If it's less than 15% or 20 GB, try to free up more;

2. Try Safe Boot mode and see if it helps.

Hold down the Shift key at startup. Safe Boot is quite slow because the OS performs some file cleanup and verification tasks, so give it time. After you're completely logged in, restart normally.

Nothing has worked. I have spent the whole day looking into solutions and nothing. I can get iTunes to run and work just fine in Safe Mode, but as soon as I try to restart in normal mode, it just pinwheels endlessly. I found this article: http://macreports.com/os-x-el-capitan-itunes-not-working-fix/ and followed the instructions. I removed the Quartz Composer Visualizer as this article suggests, but that didn't help either. "iTunes Unexpectedly Quits" cause of error code (3585)I am a complete loss right now. I don't know why it would work fine in Safe Mode and not in the regular mode. I could try a memory upgrade to 16GB, but I doubt that has anything to do with the problem. I have plenty of disk space. The problem resides within the iTunes software, somewhere...but where?
