use common apple id to setup multiple company-owned iphone

this is an scenario I'm doing to configure my company owned iphone 6s devices

I have created a common apple id and sign in to 40 company issued iphone 6s to do a basic setup before distribute to users.

- sign in with common apple id

- download and install company authorised APP

- configure company email service

- enable restrictions (disallow install/delete apps)

- sign out common apple id, icloud, imessage & FaceTime

- turn off imessage & FaceTime

based on the above settings, can the user receive / send iMessage going forward? still have the common apple id record stored in the iphone device?

Hey Sonia Yeung!

I can certainly understand wanting to know what all features will be available when you distribute the iPhones to your employees so we can certainly take a look into it. As far as the way you have it set up, if you already signed out of iCloud and turned off iMessage/FaceTime then they wouldn't be able to use iMessage or FaceTime unless they activated it with an Apple ID. If you turned on restrictions for it then they wouldn't be able to use it until they put in the password that you set up.

When it comes to the iPhone storing the Apple ID information, it would be tied to the apps that were downloaded but they would need to put in the password to be able to use the same Apple ID. The password isn't saved for it on the phone unless you went to the Apple ID or iCloud website in Safari.

One thing that might make it a little bit easier instead of using the same Apple ID for all of them, would be to set it up with Mobile Device Management. Check out this link for more information: Business Support - Mobile Device Management

Have an awesome day!
