Audio imessage disappeared from sender

Let me explain it a bit more:

I sent an audio imessage #1 out to someone yesterday, and I did not play the audio message on my iphone. The message disappeared from my iphone this morning as I checked, so what does it mean?

Another audio imessage #2 was sent by me to the same person and I did not play it either. I saw that the imessage was kept.

1) Does it mean that the receiver opened both audio imessages and did not keep imessage #1?

2) Or it is simply a glitch in iphone?

3) Will I even know if the receiver played the audio imessage?

Please help!

You will only ever know if they listed to it if they enable read receipts on their device.

Audio messages expire based on whatever time limit you have set under your iMessage settings. However, if you send the audio file as an attachment, then the auto-expire function doesn't kick in.
