Sep 1, 2016 9:40 PM in response to Penn1969by LarryHN,It makes no matter as you can not longer order books form iPhoto - they were discontinued months ago
PrestoPhoto offeres book printing for iPhoto books and while I have not used them the user reports have been good - check them out and see it it works for you - https://www.prestophoto.com
The way to switch types of books or themes is to duplicate the book -- Command D -- in case of problems and then select themes and chose the same theme and the new cover style - be sure to carefully preview the book as things may move around with a new cover or theme -- Preview a print project in Photos or iPhoto to avoid issues - Apple Support

Sep 1, 2016 10:04 PM in response to Penn1969by léonie,The switching between hardbound and wire bound is not very intuitive. You do it in the "Change Theme" panel. When you click the "Wire Bound" button, you will see the preview change to a spiral bound book. To change the book size, click the wooden bricks "L" or "M" in the lower left corner.
But all is water under the bridge , since you are no longer able to order the book from Apple.
I second Larry's suggestion to check out of Presto Photo.
See the link below on how to save the PDF file for printing with PrestoPhoto posted by PrestoMeghan:
Re: Re: how to export a book made in Aperture to make a similar book in Photos?
I cannot find a similar link for iPhoto, but if you post a question in that discussion, PrestoMeghan might jump in.
For the paper qualities see: FYI on Books with Lustre Paper!
In this discussion are also reports by kgem and Astro7x about the first experiences with this service.
But do not bother to switch to wire bound. As soon as you switch the theme, the layout may change and text may be lost. Keep your book as it is now and save the PDF preview.
