how to transfer Epub book files on flash drive to iPad?

I have a 2009 macbook pro - ver 10.10.5 Yosemite

I have used Calibre to format mobi ebook files to Epub for use on the iPad 9.3.5

Reading the previous solutions on this type of transfer many suggested emailing the files to ones self.

This is great while one has the internet, but my living situation is such that I will not have internet available to me to for long periods of time. A bit of history-The files originally where stored on a flash drive and then converted from mobi files to Epub files

My questions

I would like to transfer these Epub files to my iPad.

Can this transfer take place with out using the internet?

Is the iPad not the correct reader to use for this format?

Is there another way to use these book files?

iPad Mini, iOS 9.3.5

There are a number of iPad apps that support epub books e.g. the built-in iBooks app supports them. To get them to iBooks, add them to iBooks on your Mac (File > Add To Library) and if you then connect your iPad to your Mac and select it in your Mac's iTunes they should show on its Books tab for selecting and syncing to your iPad's iBooks app - that doesn't require internet access

If you want them in a different book app on your iPad, how you get them to it will depend upon what the app supports e.g. file sharing in iTunes (About File Sharing on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support).

how an app can import a file is 100% up to the app some apps support the flash drive some support cloud storage or ftp it all comes down to what reader you use and what it's been made to support
