Color highlight text in notes (like using a highlighter pen) missing?

For years I have been able to "color highlight" text in notes (like using a highlighter pen), however after iOS 9 and El Capitan notes upgrade, this option seems to have been removed. I've spent a decent amount of time on search engines looking for the answer and have not been able to find any. For now I am forced to change the text color which is hard to read on a white background in notes.

Am I missing something with using this feature or was this great feature removed?
