how to charge iPhone7 while using headphones

... in the evening my phones battery is low normally, but I want to listen to an audio book in bed before sleeping. How to charge the iphone7 while the headphones are plugged in?

One slot for audio output and charging means no chance to get the battery charged while listenning to musik or watching serials with headphones on.

iPhone7, even more with BT earphones, is a mobile device forced to be next to a socket all the time just to keep all batteries of all devices charged rotationaly, I fear. Or is there another adapter for our new Wonderfull Wireless World?

Sorry.

People had the same complaints when Apple eliminated floppy drives, Ethernet ports on laptops, optical drives... It's time to move on. Bluetooth headphones can be had for less than the price of Apple's wired ear-buds...

I'm sure eliminating the headphone port was key in making the phone water resistant. I'll happily take the trade-off.

BT head sets may be the future, but it is inconsistent not to ship the future right away with the device bringing that future. Isn’t it?

I’m not talking about keeping old technical standards, or thinking a hole with 3,5mm diameter in my phone is really cool, but not thinking about the daily usage of a device is simply clumsy. Remember the antenna issue of iPhone4? That was the same thinking trap. Beyond daily use but hyper progressive. As mentioned: add useful and smart equipment and no Apple fan will cry. Add poor equipment and the people will have fun making jokes on Apple.

In the end Apple changed the antenna. And they will change their strategy concerning the charging vs. music issue. No way out, I fear. How they do that... Let’s wait for iPhone 7s in March 2017 ;-)

The FUTURE? I haven't used a plug-in headset for 5 years. I cringe at the thought of having a cable dangling when weight lifting at the gym. All of my headsets that I use with my iPhone, iPad, and 2 Macs are Bluetooth. And most of mine cost a lot less than EarPods. In my car the connection from my iPhone to the car's audio system is Bluetooth. The Fugoo speakers I use with my iPhone, Amazon Echo and Mac is Bluetooth. The headphones that my wife wears when she watches TV is Bluetooth. OTOH, the connection from my iPhone and Macbook to my stereo system is NOT Bluetooth. It's Airplay over WiFi. But still wireless.

For me this is a daily use case. Wireless headsets are a nice gadget but no airline will allow you using them.

Huh? Airlines (and the FAA) do not ban wireless headsets. Perhaps you haven't flown recently. On my last trip to and from France in June about half the passengers were using wireless headsets and watching the in-flight entertainment on tablets over the plane's WiFi network.
