does the apple watch series 2 measure vo2 max and vertical oscillation?

Hi,

Does the apple watch series measure VO2max?

Has it got advanced running dynamics like: ground contact time balance, stride length and vertical ratio?

Has it got a recovery advisor or racepredictor?

I am fairly certain VO2 Max data tracking came with watchOS 4 (even though the heart-rate monitor in the Apple Watch has always been capable).

My understanding is (and I'm no expert) that Sub-Max Exercise Prediction depends on numerous factors, including running surface (hard vs. soft or uneven), hills, wind etc., as these directly affect effort wrt to speed (distance over time).

I haven't seen any papers on how Apple is calculating VO2 Max with the watch and what percent accuracy they may claim, but possibly for more accurate or reliable data, running on a track, with no wind might be the way to go. I hope Apple produces a paper on this so that we can get the best out of this new feature of the watch.

My morning runs are in the woods, on trails, rough terrain, some steep hills and often very slippery surfaces due to a preponderance of rain. When my series 3 arrives, I'm going to do some hard runs on the track to see how much the results vary with those I get in the woods.
