Mid-2009 13" Macbook Pro Battery Replacement

I have a Mid-2009 13" Macbook Pro that needs a new battery. Apple does NOT make/have them in stock any more. I have 2 options:

1) Purchase an Apple Battery on ebay. Already tried this, and got one with a Manufacture Date of 11-09-2009!!! And only 83% Capacity. So, I guess that I could keep looking, and see if I can find one not so old.

One frustrating part of this option is Apple can't even tell me (I chatted the Genius) when they stopped manufacturing them so I can figure out the "best case" date I might find.

2) After market option. However, I have yet to find one that has consistently reliable ratings/reputation.

What to do? Any/all help/advice is deeply appreciated!
