I have a light colored woven band that got dirty during a trip to a national park. I took it off the watch and got it wet and lightly scrubbed with liquid soap and a tooth brush. I was prepared for some damage, but after drying it fit on my watch with no issues.

The only way I got rid of the awful stink was using a soft brush with liquid detergent and warm water. And then I used some fabric softener (also with a brush) and let it work for about five minutes. Rinse again with warm water and it's good to go.

Apple's recommended steps for cleaning and drying your Woven Nylon band are:

More information:
Just be sure to remove the soap and softener throughly or the band gets stiff and might get damaged.
