Artist Photos Missing in iTunes 12.5.1

I've noticed a few artist photos are missing since upgrading to 12.5.1. Any ideas on how to fix or refresh? They are mainstream artists, nothing obscure.

I may have found a possible solution (well it worked for some of my missing artist photos in iTunes). I noticed that some of the artists with missing photos had an extra space after their name in iTunes.

So if you go into iTunes -

go to 'artists' under 'library' on the main page -

right click on an artist with a missing photo -

click 'artist info' -

look in the 'album artist' field -

see if there's an extra space at the end of their name -

if so, remove it and click 'ok'.

This has worked for me for most of the mainstream artists in my library, so has got rid of a fair number of those ugly microphone images.

Another point I've noticed is that changing the artist name slightly can determine whether iTunes will display a photo or not. For example 'The Bee Gees' in my library had a no photo even after removing the space. As this is a very mainstream artist, I thought to change the name album artist name to 'Bee Gees' and it worked bringing up an artist photo.

Good luck!

The new design is HORRIBLE! It's a total backward step from a company that I used to think forward looking.

Why remove the images from the artists? What benefit can that bring?
My job requires me to use iTunes a lot and for speed and neatness and it's more cumbersome having that revolting microphone logo.

It looks so amateurish. Get it fixed!

All of my music is directly purchased from Apple, so I don't think that is the issue. I agree with later post - this looks like a bug. They used to display an album cover if the artist photo was not available.

I would like the option to choose:

- whether I want the artist photo used or the most-recently purchased album cover

- to use the artist photo but if that's not available, use the most recently purchased album cover

I hope they fix this soon!

I'm going to. However. Apple going back on anything they've changed is always extremely unlikely. Once it's changed, it usually sticks. I don't mind the Artist Photos, I like'd it on iOS 9 where it showed the full band above the artist view on iOS, but it's pointless if it doesn't show the photo on iOS above artist view, and it's even more pointless if it doesn't even grab the photos.

It's not even that hard to do. All they have to do is add a picture of that artist to a folder with the artist id.

Paramore are artist ID 75950796.

All they have to do is make a folder somewhere, and create an artist image with the name 75950796.png

if they're lazy anyway, it's stupid that it doesn't work.

ive had issues like this many times over years and posted umpteen emails to Apple, never ever have responded? Crazy thing is ive apple products coming out of my ears, I love them but as a company, customer service is Dire. there had to be a reasonable explanation? They are too busy adding stupid emojis and thinking we'll all love them? I spend a lot of time on my library and want it right.

The first thing that comes to mind right after looking at the new iTunes interface is, what waste of screen space. I also hated the rounded icons in Artists view. The last version with square shape looked better than these rounded ones. So unprofessionally designed GUI.

They should rather give us an option to have a larger album art when you click the thumbnail near progress bar. It is still not big enough if all we want to see is an album art on full screen with some basic controls.

Also to have lyrics display option in the right click menu would be great, rather than going through get info options.
