Artist Photos Missing in iTunes 12.5.1
I've noticed a few artist photos are missing since upgrading to 12.5.1. Any ideas on how to fix or refresh? They are mainstream artists, nothing obscure.

I may have found a possible solution (well it worked for some of my missing artist photos in iTunes). I noticed that some of the artists with missing photos had an extra space after their name in iTunes.
So if you go into iTunes -
go to 'artists' under 'library' on the main page -
right click on an artist with a missing photo -
click 'artist info' -
look in the 'album artist' field -
see if there's an extra space at the end of their name -
if so, remove it and click 'ok'.
This has worked for me for most of the mainstream artists in my library, so has got rid of a fair number of those ugly microphone images.
Another point I've noticed is that changing the artist name slightly can determine whether iTunes will display a photo or not. For example 'The Bee Gees' in my library had a no photo even after removing the space. As this is a very mainstream artist, I thought to change the name album artist name to 'Bee Gees' and it worked bringing up an artist photo.
Good luck!
The microphone icon is for all the artists who doesn't have a "promotional" photo on the iTune store.
No album artwork anymore to represent those artists (a LOT in my library).
That's a shame for a music player.
How can advance this absurdity?
The only way is to report it to Apple thru the feedback web page: http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html
I don't know if we will be heard but at least we will be read...
These discussions aren't read by anybody at Apple.

Don't select the "microphone icon" but only one album by clicking the 3 blue points "..." at the far right of the album name and select "get information". The cover art will be paste on this album only.
The way you did it (selecting the artist icon) will really paste the picture to all the albums of this artist (Personally I would have expect the picture to be paste as the artist icon, but it doesn't)
I'm afraid they are definitely lost in their infinite loop at Cupertino... with no more contact with reality 😕
What's the source for this information? "The microphone icon is for all the artists who doesn't have a "promotional" photo on the iTune store."
I believe Apple knows about this. The issue was covered in Macworld. Will something be done about it? Who knows. For now I just avoid it. Perhaps a phone call to Apple might get some accurate answers. http://www.macworld.com/article/3128198/software-entertainment/ask-the-itunes-gu y-see-your-playback-history-missing-arti…
SellemarIt's obvious when you look at your library. There is absolutely no "album artwork as artist picture" left. None.
I had hundreds before the update. And ALL the artists who have a picture now, is a promotional photo.
So I'm pretty sure the problem is about this. I just don't know if it's intentional.
IIt's fairly clear that the last update intended to replace album art used as artist art in artists voew to the use of promotional art for artist view. It's also fairly clear it's been a fail, perhaps in part because the way our files or metadata are set up doesn't exqctly match the way it's set in the iTunes Store. My guess is they missed a part that had some sort of intelligent scanner that compared likely matches and gave the user the chance to edit or fix the match. I imagine Apple won't fix it, rather they will say that we the customer needs to fix our file names and or metadata to match. I've said it before and will say it again, plex uses the same concept to pull down an artist graphic, theirs at least works. I like to think Apple will notice all the dissatisfaction this has created, but they aren't known for stepping backwards about their ideas, my guess is they will try eventually to improve the matching of their artist art to our files.
Like the fellow below, this is very annoying. I have a very long list of artists and having artwork there helped me navigate by recognising an artist by the artwork rather than having to read everything. But now, scrolling through the list is slow and cumbersome. Apple makes a crap load of profit, and all power too them in that, but they should have a bit more thought to their loyal customers. Using iTunes has gone from a pleasure to an irritation.
Are those all apple purchases, or are some of them from other sources?
Sorry but that's just pure coincidence that those artists you have listed have artist icons from the store. I have around 700 artists and sometimes I have 5-10 in a row like that who all have artist icons generated from iTunes Store.... NEWSFLASH PEOPLE... not all artist have artist artwork/photos/icons..
this guy is trolling,
