iOS 10 Mail delete all function?

I Have just installed the new ios10 update and for some reason have lost the delete/trash all function in the mail app.

The delete button is greyed out and when you select all, you can only flag a post of mark as read/unread.

Am I missing something?

iPhone 6, iOS 10

Hi, I assume you found a way to solve this but I had same problem and found this solution .. just in case anyone else is looking ..

- go to inbox

- click on edit

- select the top message only

- select the MOVE button at the bottom and hold it

- unselect the top message

- all messages will go into one and open in a fresh window - it will tell you how many there are - then click on the trash can below it .. all mail in that inbox will be deleted

HI, contacted Apple Support today about the "Delete All" facility being removed. The lady I spoke to was very sympathetic, but agreed it was no longer there. She had had many complaints about this , but said there was nothing she could do. She did ,however, suggest I email Apple themselves and complain. She gave me the link for this and I have sent them an email. I hope other apple users do the same. I think it's the only way to get this facility back.

the link was

http://www.apple.com/feedback/mail.html

hope everyone who reads this and agrees will email them.

Please note that the Apple suppport link mentioned is for OSX and MacOS, not iOS. There must be one somewhere.

I have this issue with some mail providers and not others as I currently have 6 different mailboxes setup with a variety of different services. 1 outlook, 1 gmail, 3 imap and 1 exchange.

To restore this functionality this is what has worked for me as the option was missing when using my outlook email but not my other mailboxes, however please read through these instructions first before attempting this as you may need to search online the imap and smtp details from your mail provider but these instructions should be enough to guide you through the steps for setting up the email on your iPhone/iPad.

1. Go to settings >> Mail >> Accounts and find the account that doesnt have the "delete all" option

2. Click the account and at the top above account box it should say in small grey text what kind of account it is (e.g exchange, imap, gmail, outlook)

3. If it using outlook (my offending mailbox) press delete at the bottom and remove it

3. Choose add account >> Other >> Add mail account (This is where you may need to find some details)

4. Fill in the New account details with your Name, Email, Password and such.

5. You will see a new screen with a few blank boxes for "Incoming/outgoing Mail Server".

Your username should just be your email but this may differ from your provider.

You will also need to find these details from your mail provider but the outlook ones are below

Incoming mail server: imap-mail.outlook.com

outgoing mail server: smtp-mail.outlook.com

6.Once completed these details press next and then itll ask you to sync mail and notes, tick which you want and press save.

7. Check your mail boxes and you should have the delete all option back.

I can understand why, but when using the automatic setup options for select mailboxes, it stops this option. but ive had 100% sucess rate in switching them to use imap. However I can't say that this will work for everyone but its certainly worked for me and im hoping maybe it'll work for someone else if they are having this same issue, as it seems to be driving alot of people crazy at the moment with iOS 10 removing this function.

Irwina seems incorrect

VERY frustrating...seems like apple has removed the "delete all" except in Trash folder? some of the "community experts" have said otherwise, but it looks like they are wrong...how do I delete 6000 emails quickly from my iPhone 6 running iOS 10? in fact it seems like phantoms are creeping back in from using "Mark all" etc...this MUST be fixed asap!! cmon apple....Irwina (I think was her name on community head) seems dead wrong

It's seem there's a mixed response to wether this is actually working, however after rexamining my own mailbox, it does appear to only work for my trash and junk mailboxes, the inbox doesn't show this Function.

If you could let me know your email providers for instance be it hotmail, gmail or other and I can look into solutions for those who it doesn't work for, even though this shouldn't be an issue at all.
