iOS 10 Mail delete all function?

I Have just installed the new ios10 update and for some reason have lost the delete/trash all function in the mail app.

The delete button is greyed out and when you select all, you can only flag a post of mark as read/unread.

Am I missing something?

Hi, I assume you found a way to solve this but I had same problem and found this solution .. just in case anyone else is looking ..

- go to inbox

- click on edit

- select the top message only

- select the MOVE button at the bottom and hold it

- unselect the top message

- all messages will go into one and open in a fresh window - it will tell you how many there are - then click on the trash can below it .. all mail in that inbox will be deleted

Here is a workaround (until apple realizes this feature is necessary):

1. go to the individual inbox you wish to delete all

2. Tap "edit" in the top right corner

3. select any email (this will make "move" [bottom center] an option)

4. Tap and hold "move"

5. while holding move tap to de-select the email from step 3

6. Release "move" (this will bring up a list of destinations to move the emails)

7. Tap trash (this will move all your emails to the trash)

Are you missing something? Yes you are. Go to Trash and select Edit. Now, without selecting any of the emails, hit the blue Delete All in the bottom right corner of the screen; all emails are then deleted. Note: If you start selecting emails the system assumes you are being 'selective' and the Delete All option is changed to Delete.

You're missing the point of this discussion. It is not a problem to Delete All item that are already in the trash. Theissue is Delete All is missing from the InBox.

There is a reply in this forum from someone who purports to be an Apple representative saying that this feature now only exists in the "Trash" box in iOS 10 Mail. I found it very helpful to clean out old emails that stack up in the inbox and sent boxes as well. Obviosly Apple decided this feature was too "dangerous" for normal folk to use. I disagree and would like to see "delete all/trash all" returned in a later iteration of iOS 10. After all, you did have to got to edit before the feature could be used, so it was not just sitting there to be accidentally selected. The "Apple rep" suggested that people voice their opinions on this matter so that it might be reconsidered. I hope this is the appropriate place for that posting. Thank you for listening.

Go to your inbox, Tap Edit, then Mark All, and then Mark All as Read. This will then close the Edit mode.Tap Edit again, and tap the top message in the inbox. Press and hold the Move button with your thumb. While holding the Move button, uncheck the top message, and then release the Move button. If you have a large number of emails in the inbox, wait a couple of seconds without touching your screen.
