Can icloud be unlocked WO apple ID/Password

Hello there,

I am from Pakistan and I am going to buy an Iphone 5S from a local seller. I want to describe here is that I have never been an iphone user till now, but I have heard about terms and have know how about Lock/unlock icloud and network/carrier services stuff.

According to the seller i cloud is locked and can be easily unlocked. I have browsed the apple site using IMEI number he provided me and have found that I cannot do any thing without user ID/password. I have asked the seller and he is not sure about ID/Password of the icloud.

What I want is to ask is there any solution of this issue and do I go for this purchase or stop doing so . . . . ??

Looking forward

Hello Ahmar M,

You can visit a local Apple store or contact the support line to get this device unlocked from an "iCloud" locked status. However to be sure that you own the device you must provide proof of purchase and a valid ID showing that you bought the device and did not find or steal it.

I have done this before very easily at my local apple store and it take between 5-10 Mins to complete. If you do this process over the phone it can take 2-3 days.

I hope this helped, and good luck.

That is not entirely correct. You can only do this if your are the original owner and have the receipt for the device. A 2nd hand owner cannot do this, and if it is locked with someone else's ID then you are out of luck.

The OP clearly stated that he was attempting to purchase a phone that already was iCloud locked and was asking advice about whether he should purchase it or not. The answer for this poster is DO NOT PURCHASE THE DEVICE.

Hello GB,

You yourself are not entirely correct as I personally have done this at my local apple store and even over the phone with apple support. Their requirements are strict but they still allow people who are not original owners to use an iCloud locked devices.

They don't allow website purchased devices from places like ebay, amazon or craigslist. But if you; per say to go to a pawn shop and buy an icloud locked device you have full authority, per Apple's terms and conditions to have it unlocked if you have proof of purchase from that location.

I'm not saying that this recommended or assured, But to answer his original question you can do it.

This is not accurate. Submitting a proof of purchase to Apple is only valid for the original purchaser who has the original bill of sale from an authorized Apple Seller.

A Pawn Shop purchase could never qualify for either of those requirements.
