How to take a screenshot with IOS 10 ?
I had the same problem - first thing I did was use the Assistive Touch (Settings / General / Accessibility / Assistive Touch) and configured the Custom function there to take a screen shot. Worked great, but extra steps to get there. I also played around with the power / home button combination that *used* to work really well (pre IOS 10); I'm getting better at it but not yet 100% - I hold the power button and click the home button really fast as opposed to a "leisurely" click - when I don't click the home button fast enough it just acts like I hit the home button by itself. Good luck, and practice practice practice!
IOS 10 has reversed the sequence:
We're all accustomed to holding down the power/sleep button then pressing home, but after the IOS 10 update, we now have to press and hold the home button and then press power/sleep.
Also, it needs to be performed quickly enough to avoid activating Siri while pressing the home button.
Having "Rest Finger to Open" didn't work for me on my iPhone 6. Maybe due to poor dexterity? I end up, on several tries, getting Siri or home screen or lock screen or reboot. What has worked is General > Accessibility > AssistiveTouch, which inserts a semi-transparent button icon onto the screen that, when touched, offers 6 options. Touch Device > More > Screenshot. All credit to Banadula, the person who suggested this solution.
I was remiss to add that this is specific to my iPad Air 2. My iPhone 6 Plus still works using the original sequence (hold power/sleep button and then press home). Seems it varies by device/model.
I have an iPad Mini 2. Prior to iOS 10, I could press the power button, hold it, then press the home button.
With iOS 10, I have to press the power and home buttons simultaneously.
Not working for me too. Didn't have this problem before I updated the iOS. All these suggestions doesn't work for me. Still in search for a solution.
I have changed my email address to **********. Please update your records.
<E-mail Edited by Host>Mary, you just gave your email address everyone on the planet who reads this thread. I recommend that you take this post down and go through the address change mechanism that this site has.
I have the iPhone 5s and when I upgraded to iOS 10 I was also unable to take screenshots as I used to. I used to be able to hold down the power/sleep button and then click the home button to take a screenshot. I think a lot of users used to do it that way too. With iOS 10, I can only take a screenshot by holding down both buttons at the same time and then releasing them simultaneously. It's harder to do and definitely a change from how it could be done before.
I Have the same phone, same problem. New bug with IOS 10 (imo)
I Have the exact same issue on my iPhone 6S, and I
have had an iPhone since the 4!!
I KNOW how it is done and should work! But ever since
I went to iOS 10, it does not work!!
I've pressed the Home button first, then quickly pressed the
the sleep key and I have tried it again, doing the opposite.
THe he screen disappears or returns to home screen.
IF I keep doing this like 10 times, it might work and I hear
the "click". Something is wrong, we aren't crazy!
Update: Discovered that if I press Sleep button first THEN Home button it works! I use a 6 Plus.
Press the on/off button first follow by the home button. It will perform the screenshot function.
The old way (pre-OSX) no longer works for me @iPh6. Each time it exits me to the black sign-in screen. I have not enabled Siri, anyway...
Apple has made a good thing into a mediocre conglobulation of a multitude of Fabulous ideas.... oh geez... that don't work together as well as a few simple good idea..... the screen capture is now so hard to use, Siri interrupts too often like that busy body who can't seem to get anything right and then stumbles walking in a straight line....
