Is there a way to change alert sounds for individual apps? Since updating to 10, all of my alerts are the same, so I can't tell if it's a Facebook message from my husband or it's my turn in Words with Friends without looking at my phone. There are a few options to change alerts, like for sending email and getting a text, but it seems that all other apps are stuck with the same sound.

I had this problem too hour ago. I restarted my Iphone and it is fixed now amazingly. Weird, isn't it?

I seem to have lost the ability to change the notification sound for apps. When I go to Settings>Sounds, I can change the sound for Ringtone, Text Tone, New Voicemail, etc. but not app notification sounds. So now all my apps have the same sound which is Tri-tone. I have tried to turn my phone off then back on, I've also tried the hard reset. See screenshots. Please help.
I tried restarting my phone again and the notification sounds for Messenger and Viber have returned to their own default sounds. However, I still can't find where to change the default notification sound for apps. Has it been removed?
I have the same question about IOS 10 and the notification sounds. However from what i have found, you have to turn off and back on right after you do the IOS 10 update. I have been using it for a while and didn't realize that was a fix. Are there any other fixes?
Rebooting the phone works, but only temporarily. The tones change back to the tri-tone chime after a while. I think if an app receives an update, the tones revert back to the tri-tone default.
I agree with Flashpants. I have to restart my phone everytime Messenger or Viber updates. Also, yesterday I missed 3 calls because the ringtone wasnt playing. My ringtone volume wasn't low nor was my phone on silent mode. I called my phone and watched it ring without any sounds. I had to restart at that point.
This resolves the problem only temporarily. I would really like to see an answer from Apple Support where they state that they have found the bug and when they will fix it. It's really annoying.
Like many others, I restarted my phone, but sadly, it only fixed the problem temporarily. After a couple of days, it went right back to that annoying tone for all types of notifications. Ridiculous considering what we pay for the device, apps and services.
I have the same problem. Restarting made no difference.
I'm having the same issue!! I'm not sure if it's a fix for it but I've tried everything that has been suggested throughout this forum and none of that works. I have Iphone7 running 10.3.3
I don’t see any choices to change the sounds for different apps! What part of the settings in IOS 11 on an iPhone 6S plus was this an option? I don’t see it under Notifications.
