iOS 10 alert sounds

I have apps from CNN and FOX News on my iPhone.

When FOX News sends me a notification my iPhone makes a Notification sound.

When CNN sends me a notification my iPhone makes NO sound at all. (so I often miss it.)

Under Settings > Notifications, Both FOX News and CNN, are set the exact same way. I have tried turning notifications on and off and power cycling my iPhone.

I have this problem on iPad Pro. Restarting has no effect. There is no setting I can find to even set what sound is used for apps and the sound I'm getting is extremely annoying. I dont even care anymore if I can change it per app, I just need to set what sound I hear for apps. Is there a way to do this with iOS 10.3.3?

Yes!!! And its soooo bad, when someone else gets a notification, me and several people too are looking on their phones. Apple should really enable to set custom notifications, instead train us all to react on the same sound like idiots.

Go to Settings>Sounds and from there you can change different system and app notification sounds.

Yes, I have the same problem, it is already Occurred with the beta and Golden Master version, the sounds can not be changed. I think that Apple will soon have to get out to shoot an update .... because that is not practical ... I make again a downgrade to 9.3.5

Yeah, when you go to settings everything seems to be the same as before iOS 10, but I still get the same alert sound when I get all notifications. Which ***** cos I can't recognize the app that's notifying then!! This is how it used to work when they first introduced notifications on the iPhone, not sure why they went back of if it's a bug...

I had the same problem after upgrading to iOS10. I restarted the iPhone and now the problem seems to be fixed.

The alert sounds on whatsapp and mail are the same individual sounds like before upgrading.

Reset All Settings fixed this issue for me.

Restarting solved it for me too. It's weird cos yesterday I also restarted after updating as the messages app wasn't working and now I had to restart again to fix the sounds? 😕 weird.

I concur w eric0209...turning phone off, and then turning it back on solved my app sound issue. I use Outlook for iPhone and it has a distinct notification sound, as other apps do, as well. After the update (including the initial phone restart), ALL app notifications were "tri-tone," which is the default text tone. Restarting the phone returned the normal app notification sounds. Thanks!

I rebooted my iphone and all the sounds went back to normal.

try to restart your phone after the update.

mine's working well now.

There's no option for you to change it, since it's a default tone. 🙂 🙂
