I've had almost every iPhone since they were released and every single version of iOS since...well before it was even called iOS but since 'upgrading' to iOS 10 I have been unable to maintain a Bluetooth connection the the Audi MMI in my 2005 A8 that I have owned for 5 years now.
This is in essence the same BT module I had in my previous 2001 S8 purchased in 2006
iOS 10 will sometimes connect automatically to the MMI but will then drop the connection at some point. I eagerly installed every .point upgrade after reading how BT connectivity has been fixed but it is still the same here.
I have deleted the BT profiles from car & phone numerous times to no avail.
My older 5S running iOS 9 has no issues nor any phone/software before that.
It is only since upgrading to iOS 10 that my problems started.
There is practically zero chance that Audi will ever upgrade the firmware in this BT module nor should they have to as it is clearly an Apple Bluetooth failure as it also drops connection to my Apple Watch which never ever happened prior to iOS 10
I am not holding my breath that Apple will ever own up, take responsibility and fix their software to resolve this newly introduced problem.
This has rendered my iPhone useless & potentially dangerous in the car since I live in the UK and handsfree is a legal requirement but due solely to iOS 10 it no longer works.
As much as I am tied into the Apple ecosystem my next phone in 10 years will probably not be an iPhone. Sad but necessary & true.
Way to go Apple...
