3rd party charging accessories no longer function or do not consistently function after updating to iOS 10

Before the iOS 10 update, my charger with 3rd party cables worked perfectly fine. I have a 10 ft woven charging cable that charged my device perfectly fine before updating to iOS 10. I suspect that somewhere in that update's construction, that a stricter standard was added to the code to exclude 3rd party cables, accessories, and so forth from being used on Apple devices. What was added to the update that would cause it to suddenly refuse charging by a 3rd party cable whereas it worked fine before. The last time I charged it with the cable in question was 2 days ago and it worked perfectly fine.

I have just tried my iPad Pro 12.9" with an iAnker cable and charger and it works ok. The cable is Apple MFi certified though. What make of cable are you using and is it MFi certified.

Apple chargers are becoming smarter e.g. when the iPad Pro 12.9" is paired with the 29W USB-C charger it rapid charges as the iPad and charger recognise each other 'unlocking' the ability to rapid charge.

While I do understand the need for special attention regarding 3rd party accessories...I don't like them fixing something that isn't broken either. This charger's base (the wall part) is an apple-branded connector, while the cable is a long-woven Lightning cable. There wasn't a reason to prevent 3rd party stuff from working as well...and only serves to require me to buy more expensive, more controlled accessories unnecessarily. It's just frustrating.

Same here. Both my Apple certified Amazon cables have started having issues since the ios10 update. They will charge the phone for a short time and then I get the message that it is not supported and the phone stops charging. Very frustrating as one of the cables has been hard wired into my car to supply power to my phone when it is mounted in its windshield mount and now as I'm driving I have to keep unplugging it and plugging it back in.
