Problems with "Parked Car" Feature (iOS 10 Maps)

I upgraded to iOS 10 on my iPhone 5S yesterday. I cannot get the parked car feature of maps to work.

I have the following enabled:

-All Apple Maps Notification options

-Maps Location Services (While Using). "Always" is not available as an option.

-System Services: Frequent Locations

-System Services:Routing and Traffic

-System Services:Improve Maps

My phone connects via Bluetooth to my car's handsfree system. Is it not carplay.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

This makes no sense.

  • Parked car updates used to work for me with this car and this iPhone. The car is 6 months old.
  • parked car updates no longer work now with this same car and iPhone.
  • work and home commute estimates still fire every time, when I get in the car I am given this info
  • I had my car in for maintenance and received the same car (different color - LOL) as a loaner yesterday. I paired BT for the day and it gave me parked car updates.
  • Got back in my car and ... nope
  • deleted my BT and reconnected and no change.

Having same problem with my 5s as well. Using a Uconnect system in car via bluetooth. I've even gone in and selected that bluetooth device and selected "show notifications". Still nothing. I've tried deleting phone and re-pairing it. No luck.

I've watched on the bluetooth screen as I enter the car and it connects and I've watched the screen as I leave the car and it disconnects. Still no notification or parked car destination in maps. I do have "show parked location" checked in maps settings, as well as having all location services, frequent destinations, etc. turned on as well.

make sure its available on the iPhone 5S because looking by what settings you have, it should work, cause I have a 6S Plus and I was trying to figure this issue out and I fixed all those settings and it finally worked for me....when you go back to maps make sure if it asks you to improve maps blah blah blah choose yes, I don't remember exactly what it said but I picked yes lol...

Settings-->Privacy-->Location Services-->System Services-->Frequent Locations

^^^^that's all I read on another site and it fixed the issue for me

I do have all these things turned on, and still not working. I wonder if it is a problem with the 5s based on some of the other comments. One thing I did find that was wrong, under Settings/Privacy/Location Services there is a setting called "share my location". When I went into this menu, I did have "share my location" turned on, however, where it asks "From", I had an old phone selected. I changed it to my current phone "this device", and hopefully that will make a difference. I'll know the next time I park my car.
