I have added a friend to my Apple Watch share list and gone through all the acceptance steps.
However on my Apple Watch I cannot see my friend's results but on my iPhone I can see both mine and theirs.
On my friends iPhone and Apple Watch they can see my Activity results but all mine read as zero.

Get help with Activity Sharing
Activity Sharing requires iOS 10 and watchOS 3. If you paired more than one Apple Watch to your iPhone, the Sharing tab won't appear in Activity
until you update all your watches to watchOS 3.If you can’t add a friend, make sure that they have an Apple Watch and that you haven’t added the maximum number of friends. You can add up to 25 friends.
As long as your iPhone can connect to the Internet and you're signed in to iCloud, you can get updates about your friends’ activity each day. If your iPhone can't connect for multiple days or you sign out of iCloud, you might see missing days.

the issue resolved itself after a round of workouts from me and my friend worked their way through the system. Since then it's not skipped a beat.
Similar issue sharing workout data, but I have 2 people I can see and 2 others that I cannot. I have tried inviting them, they have tried inviting me... no luck. Any ideas?
